USDT is Tether’s dollar-pegged token and the longest-running major fiat-backed stablecoin.
Tether was founded in 2014 and launched USD₮ on Bitcoin’s Omni Layer so crypto markets could move dollar value between venues without waiting on bank transfers. It later expanded the token to multiple blockchains and grew beyond stablecoins into other digital-asset and infrastructure projects.
